If you are a user of Amazon web services, popularly known as AWS, you know some of the best AWS Cost Optimisation practices. This is very cool, but what you should remember, there are many more that exist. Usually, because the cloud is a new thing and it is now that many businesses are moving to it, little information is known about it. That is why you will rarely hear newspapers screaming about overspending on the cloud. Many newspapers will write about the old models of the business and not the new kinds of stuff.   1. Upgrading to the latest instance generation, 

AWS keeps updating about its product and services. They have a wide array of them, and thus the announcements about the upgrade are expected. Majorly, the upgrade is all about support on the service so that it will perform optimally. It would be best if you kept it updated for the service you are utilizing under AWS. This is the fastest way to optimize under AWS. The instances that the AWS releases are generally good in performance and do an excellent job for you. The most important thing is to keep your instance updated. You will benefit from the level of performance that will be provided.

Do way with the unused assets. Usually, these assets are called zombie assets. These assets are unused and contribute much to the cost of operating the AWS cloud. These assets include obsolete snapshots and un-attached Elastic Block Storage volume (EBS). Some of these assets are difficult to find. However, with the knowledge of an expert, you can navigate this and optimize your AWS cloud. Usually, when you have active assets, you can achieve the maximum AWS optimization.

  1. Move the data that is not frequently accessed to low tiers,

AWS offers different pricing for its tiers. Currently, they have six tiers. Depending on how frequently you want to access your data, you can store it in a tier that best suits your organization. If you have data that is not frequently accessed, keeping it in the low tiers is a good practice. You can choose to store it in the S3 Deep Achier Glacier. Here the cost is low as compared to keeping in the S3 Standard tier. This will save many bucks, and in that way, you will your organization will be moving a step further.
